Walking Trail: Forest and Water

The Hunting and Fishing Museum of South Tyrol

Since 1996 Wolfsthurn Castle has been the seat of the Hunting and Fishing Museum of South Tyrol.

The mighty, baroque castle, towering on a hill above the village of Mareit, has certainly much more to offer than just interesting objects for hunters and fishers.

Three exhibition areas are situated respectively on the three floors of the castle's main wing:

the 1st floor hosts the actual hunting and fishing exhibition area; on the 2nd floor it is possible to visit the palatial rooms where the castle's nobility used to live; finally, in the basement there are three rooms where visitors can engage in various educational activities.
