The South Tyrolean Wine Museum
A place that can offer you more than a good glass of wine.
The South Tyrolean Wine Museum was the first one of its kind to be created south of the Alps. It was founded in 1955. Until 1986 it was hosted in Ringberg castle above Lake Kaltern and in 1986 it was transferred to the village centre.
In this impressive Museum, which is located right in the middle of Kaltern/Caldaro, visitors have the opportunity to learn about various aspects of wine history and culture, with particular regard to those of the South Tyrol region.
Highlights of the permanent Museum exhibition are: the winegrowers' daily work in the vineyard, wine production and storage, the farmers' working tools and implements, glass and ceramic, and the relation between wine and religion.
In the Museum's typical wine cellar it is possible to join tasting sessions of wines from South Tyrol. Advance booking is necessary.
